I began my love for the arts at an early age going to as many plays and concerts as I could and dove right into every opportunity to sing, act, or dance in front of a variety of audiences. At age nine, I began learning how to confidently sing in large audience settings. For several years I was professionally taught vocal and stage techniques by an ASU opera teacher who advised me to learn the art of opera in different languages so that I could sing just about anything in the future. I took those skills and joined several different ensembles, choirs, school musicals, international performance troops, and even a cover rock band that performed at different youth camps and events. My college education started me down the path towards Music Therapy, but I realized that teaching early music appreciation in any context was a stronger passion.
I married my amazing husband Scott in 1992 and we became partners not only in life and building a family (our three kids attend CCA), but in planting gospel-focused churches where we help grow true community, powerful worship bands, and fully devoted followers of Jesus.
In addition to teaching, I am also the Co-Owner & Community Liaison for our family business, SoZo Coffeehouse & Music Venue where I book all the live performances and host a popular open mic night. I hope to take some of the CCA students to perform there in the future! Just prior to joining the CCA staff, I taught music education and performance for nearly three years at a public charter school. I am thrilled to impart a positive energy, fresh enthusiasm, and the tools for adding confidence into performing arts students of all ages.
